PROJECTS
East African Translation Project
The East African Translation Project successfully completed 60 translations of openly licensed digital stories into Somali, expanding critical literacy resources for the Somali community. This achievement directly addresses the severe shortage of Somali reading materials on the African Storybook platform, where no books were previously available in Somali despite the platform hosting over 4,900 stories in more than 260 African languages.
This work was a collaboration of the St Paul Public School, African Storybook/SAIDE and SABIER with generous support from the Minnesota Historical Society.
Here’s a link to the complete list of books translated from English to Somali.
